About RWI

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) is an independent academic institution that combines interdisciplinary research with education, support, and outreach activities to contribute to increased understanding of and respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.

We operate in over 40 countries worldwide, and have offices in Lund (head office), Bangkok, Harare, Jakarta, Kyiv, Nairobi, Phnom Penh, and Yerevan.

About the Afghanistan Programme

RWI’s Afghanistan Programme aims to contribute to better-informed strategies to promote and protect human rights in Afghanistan. It does this by supporting Afghan scholars and civil society with research, training and engagement with international mechanisms, including the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan who is a Visiting Professor at RWI.

About the internship

As an intern, you will provide administrative and practical support to the Afghanistan Programme, working closely with Programme Associates in their day-to-day activities. The role primarily involves assisting with general administrative duties and contributing to the smooth functioning of the programme, particularly during periods of increased workload.

In this capacity, you will also support RWI’s Afghan research fellows by helping with practical needs such as printing and copying, as well as providing additional assistance during times when fellows are present in Lund or when remote support is required. You will also support the organisation of events by preparing participant name tags, arranging necessary stationery, and assisting with practical logistics before, during, and after events to ensure they are carried out efficiently, including coordination related to meals and venues.

In addition, you will contribute to routine administrative processes by assisting in the preparation of attendance lists, organising documents, and maintaining simple records. The role also includes providing support with other administrative tasks as needed, contributing to the overall effectiveness and coordination of the programme.

About you

The ideal candidate is organised, detail-oriented, and able to contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment. They have a supportive approach to colleagues and are comfortable handling a range of basic administrative tasks. This includes practical responsibilities such as printing, copying, and organising documents, carried out with accuracy and reliability.

The candidate demonstrates good communication skills, including proficiency in English, and has a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with experience in Excel considered an advantage. Flexibility is important in this role, as you are expected to provide support during programme activities when needed.

Knowledge of Dari and Pashto, and of Swedish, is considered an advantage.

Applicants who have parallel financial support (e.g. CSN, stipends, Arbetsförmedlingen, or part-time work) will be preferred.

Applicants must hold the necessary permits to be able to work in Sweden.

Application Process
