About RWI

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) is an independent academic institution that combines multi-disciplinary human rights research with education, support and outreach to contribute to a wider understanding of, and respect for, human rights and international humanitarian law. Our impact extends across more than 40 countries, and we have offices in Lund (HQ), Addis Ababa, Bangkok, Harare, Jakarta, Kyiv, Nairobi, Phnom Penh, and Yerevan.

About the Ukraine programme

RWI’s 2025–2027 Human Rights Infrastructure for Ukraine (HRIU) programme, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), aims to reinforce institutional implementation of human rights policies, strengthen academic and professional expertise, and empower local actors to advance access to justice and human rights protections. Key partners include the Ministry of Justice, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, academic institutions, the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Bar Association, and local authorities and civil society partners in targeted regions.

Scope of Work

RWI seeks a Communications and Outreach Consultant on a more junior level to support the Ukraine programme’s communication needs, including reporting, content development, and knowledge dissemination in both Ukrainian and English. The consultant will work closely with programme staff in Lund and Kyiv and collaborate with RWI’s Communications Team.

Main tasks include:

  • Support drafting, editing, and proofreading internal and external reports, briefs, and publications.
  • Assist in preparing and updating website content, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Provide ad-hoc translation from Ukrainian to English and vice versa.
  • Help coordinate outreach materials and support the creation of communication assets.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, communication packs, and outreach documentation.
  • Help maintain content quality and consistency with institutional standards and messaging.

The consultant is expected to work autonomously, with regular check-ins and meetings with the supervisor and team members.

Qualifications and Eligibility

To apply, you should hold a Master’s degree or possess equivalent experience in human rights, European- or development studies, communications, or another closely related field. The role requires demonstrated experience in communications, editorial work, or content production, preferably within an international or human rights‑focused environment. Strong writing and translation abilities in both English and Ukrainian are essential, along with the capacity to work independently, manage workflows effectively, and collaborate with colleagues across different teams and locations. Familiarity with human rights issues and the communication demands of international development work is important, and knowledge of Swedish is considered an additional advantage.

Application Process

Apply with your CV and by answering the selection questions no later than 22 March.

Please note that applications sent by email will not be registered.

Every application is reviewed with care. Our recruitment team takes the time to assess each candidate thoughtfully and thoroughly. Once your application is submitted, you will receive system-generated confirmations and updates. These are triggered by our recruitment team to keep you informed throughout the process.
