Communications Officer
Driving impactful communication in a global human rights context
Join a mission-driven organisation where communication is at the heart of creating meaningful impact. As Communications Officer, you will shape how our work is understood, experienced, and shared—across borders, platforms, and audiences.
About RWI
The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) is an independent academic institution that combines interdisciplinary research with education, support, and outreach activities to contribute to increased understanding of and respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.
We operate in over 40 countries worldwide, and have offices in Lund (head office), Bangkok, Harare, Jakarta, Kyiv, Nairobi, Phnom Penh, and Yerevan.
About the position
As Communications Officer, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s communications. You will be responsible for implementing strategic, impactful communication initiatives that strengthen visibility, engagement, and understanding of our mission and work.
Working closely with colleagues across departments and offices, you will ensure that communication efforts are coherent, well-planned, and aligned with organisational priorities. The role spans a wide range of channels and formats — from digital platforms and social media to print publications and media relations — and combines both strategic oversight and hands-on production.
You will contribute to the development of communication strategies, oversee content creation and dissemination, and ensure consistency in messaging and branding. The role also includes monitoring and evaluating communication efforts, using data and insights to continuously improve impact.
In addition, you will produce and edit a variety of materials such as reports, articles, and press releases, support website and social media management, and contribute to public relations efforts in both Swedish and international contexts. You will also support internal capacity building and collaborate on events and organisational initiatives.
About you
You are an experienced communications professional, preferably with a university background in journalism/communication/media, with a strong strategic mindset and a genuine interest in how communication can drive impact and engagement. You bring several years of experience from communications, marketing, or public relations, and have a proven ability to plan and implement effective communication strategies.
You are a confident writer with excellent language skills in Swedish and native-level English, and you are comfortable adapting complex information for different audiences and channels. You combine creativity with structure and have a strong eye for detail.
You are digitally skilled and used to working with content management systems, social media platforms, and analytics tools. Experience with visual content production and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage, as is familiarity with AI-driven tools.
As a person, you are collaborative, proactive, and well-organised. You thrive in a dynamic, international environment and enjoy working across teams and cultures. You are curious, solution-oriented, and motivated to contribute to meaningful work.
